Information: Stress is the body’s reaction to harmful situations whether they’re real or perceived. During stress response, the heart rate increases, breathing quickens, muscles tighten, and blood pressure rises.

Common causal factors: When one feels threatened, a chemical reaction occurs that is known as “fight-or-flight,” or the stress response. Adrenaline and cortisol levels increase.
